Saturday June 17th was the day for the OKBT event presented by Fogh Marine back on Balsam Lake, the location of the very first OKBT event back in 2018. What an event it turned out to be with 161 anglers participating to set new highs once again in attendance numbers. With this large of a field, it was destined to be a shootout for sure and that certainly was the case.
The morning started fast with fish hitting the leaderboard within minutes of the start time. Tyler Warner took the lead and was putting up some good fish early. He continued to cull and stay high in the standings throughout the day. Kris Totosko had a good fish right off the bat with a 19.75” that showed he was there to play today as well. As the day progressed a few anglers started making their move. Bryan Morrow, who was the winner at the Bay of Quinte event last season, soon found himself at the top of the leaderboard. Some juggling of the top 5 went on for most of the afternoon and when the board went dark at 2pm it was really going to come down to who could finish it strong in the last hour.
When it was over and the results announced it was Ryan Tyler who took the win with a 94.00” total followed in second by Kris with 93.50” and Bryan with 93.50” taking third. Bryan lost out on the tie breaker rule with Kris having the larger fish. Tyler Warner had a strong finish at 93.00” taking the 4th place position. Big Bass went to Tim Zado with a 20.50” smallmouth.
1st Place – Ryan Tyler – 94.00”
2nd Place – Kris Totosko – 93.50”
3rd Place – Bryan Morrow – 93.50”
Big Bass – Tim Zado – 20.50”
Thanks to everyone that came out and enjoyed the day. Balsam Lake is a great location and showed us what she has to offer for sure. Looking forward to the next event on July 15th on Lake Simcoe. Cant wait to see what happens there.
And as always thank you to our great sponsors for the support you provide the series and the anglers
