OKBT 2022 Port Severn Results 2

OKBT event #4 on Georgian Bay presented by Garmin Marine Canada was great with perfect temperatures, no wind and bass that wanted to play. You couldn’t ask for a better combination to make a great event. With such a large area of the bay in play, and both largemouth and smallmouth calling it home, there were decisions to be made. Where to launch and what to fish for would be crucial for success on the day.

It looked like some good decisions were made as the bass hit the board early, and there were some big fish coming in. Smallmouth were ready to eat and that was showing as the right play for the day. Mike Morand got on an early bite of big fish and moved to the top of the leader board fairly early in the day. He was being chased by a few others, but it became apparent that he was on them and everyone else may be fishing for second place. Joshua Hood and Matt Robinson started making moves up the leaderboard with culls throughout the day. When the board shut down going into the last hour Mike Morand had a solid grip on the lead, but after that was up for grabs. At the end of the day Mike Maorand came out on top with a 97.75″ which is the largest single day total of any OKBT event. Josh Hood took home second place and Matt Robinson grabbed third. Along with the win Mike also took home big bass honours with a 21.00″ smallmouth

1st place – Mike Morand – 97.75″
2nd place – Joshua Hood – 93.50″
3rd place – Matt Robinson – 90.25″
4th place – Michael Blumhagen – 89.25″
5th place – Thomas Paleczny – 88.75″

Congratulations also go to Easton Groves, our youngest angler at 12 years old, who came to his first event and took home the big prize of the Garmin Echomp UHD 75 SV from Garmin Marine Canada
