OKBT #3 at Seymour has come and gone and with it the season is now almost over. I must be honest and tell you that this event was the cause of much stress for me over the last few weeks. Starting with a pre-fishing day after the Stony Lake event where not a single fish was caught and continuing right up till the week before where another trip left me with zero bass in the PA. With reports coming in from other anglers about the tough fishing recently, not only at Seymour but many other areas around the Kawartha’s, I was concerned that it was going to prove to be a grind all day. Well, not sure if it was the stable weather for a few days prior, the pre-frontal conditions that were there on Saturday, the clearing water, the cooler temps and overcast skies, but whatever it was it couldn’t have been any different than the pre-fishing. Right away bass started hitting the leaderboard. As the morning went on more kept being posted and some big fish were being caught. Before to long Mike Morand and Bryan Morrow were trading places at the top of the board and with movement all over the standings throughout the day it was going to be close at the end for sure.
After the event was over and all the judging completed the results were in:
1st – Mike Morand – 88.50”
2nd – Bryan Morrow – 84.75”
3rd – John Ricciardi – 83.00”
4th – Paul Winkel – 82.00”
5th – Josh Bobyk – 79.00”B
ig Bass – Zach Morin – 20.50”
It was great a great day for sure and it is always great to see all the guys show up and especially the new anglers to the events and to sit down and chat after it is all over.
A big thanks goes out again to all the great companies that have been supporting us all season long.Fogh Marine / Old Town Canoes & Kayaks / DAIWA Corporation – Canada / Gagnon Sports / Mega Jigs / Scotty Fishing Products / Werner Paddles / Blind Rage Baits / Bam Baits / SAIL / Aces and 8,s musky baits / Dakota Lithium Batteries / Max Die Group / Tightline Anchor
Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone that came out and gave it their best shot. I can’t wait to do it again in a few weeks at Balsam Lake where we will have our event winners, crown the AOY and also have the draw for the Fogh Award of $1000, the Old Town Topwater 105 Kayak, and the Werner Shuna Hooked Paddle. This is going to be a great day on and off the water.
See you all at OKBT #4 Balsam Lake on Sept. 14th
