OKBT 2022 Lake St. Clair Results

June 25th was bass opener in Ontario and the OKBT #2 on Lake St. Clair…this was setting up to be an awesome event. If it could be described in 5 words it would be… WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW.

The day started out great with the weather cooperating, which is always nice on St. Clair. The smallmouth started hitting the board almost immediately. A few anglers took off and loaded cards very quickly. Mig Sig was one of them that got on the fish quick and loaded up his card within the first 1/2 hour. As the day went on the leader board was ever changing. It would appear that no lead was safe today. As a few anglers started to separate from the field late in the day I am sure they knew they could sit back and relax. When the board was shut down at 2pm for the last hour, There was still a chance anyone of about 6 anglers could make the jump to the front. As it ended and they came to the awards it was still anyone’s event to win. When the results came out, it was Michael Blumhagen taking the win with 96.75″ thanks to an upgrade at 2:20pm. Adam Blackmore was second also with 96.75″ but with the tie breaker rule Mike took the win with a 20.25″ largest bass over Adams largest of 20.00″. Justin Awram posted a 95.25″ limit to take home third place. Big Bass award went to John Dean with a 20.50″ smallmouth.

All in all it was a great day. And what made it great? Let’s take a look at a few numbers:

112 registered anglers – a new record

87 anglers with full cards

23 anglers with 90″ or greater

785 bass scored for the event.

These number are just amazing and show the commitment and excitement that the anglers of Ontario have towards the OKBT events. And for this we thank you all. And the fishery on St. Clair is like no other at this time of year. I am sure there would be very little resistance if we were to schedule another event there to start the year off.

Once again we thank all the sponsors for all the support that they provide. They are a huge part of making these events.

OKBT # 3 on Bay of Quinte is coming up on July 15. Our presenting sponsor for that event is Power-Pole Total Boat Control. Stay Tuned for special event announcements.
